Competitions and Events

A series of competitions are run annually in order to award the various trophies which the Club now possesses and to establish the Club Champion.

Six local events are held on Muirhead reservoir and the participant with the best three results will be awarded the Freeman Cup. The adult winner of the June competition will be awarded the Lorraine Bowl and the junior winner the Currie Cup. The junior with the best three results will be awarded the Robert Paton Junior Champion Shield.

During the season there are six boat outings to venues which are decided annually, but usually two are to the Lake of Menteith. Again the winner of the best three will win the Aircell Shield. The Bowl is awarded to the member catching the most fish at three boat outings and the Feeney Cup to the member catching the most fish at the Lake of Menteith.

The Kilbride Trophy is awarded to the member with the highest aggregate points from the best three boat and bank competitions. The winner being the Club Champion.

The Brisbane Mains Shield and the Clydesport Shield are awarded to adult and junior winners of the burn competitions.

We also have a trophy for the best brown trout taken from club waters

All our competitions have been poorly attended this year especially the boat outings, if you don't normally fish competitions why not come along and give it a try you might find you enjoy them.          Also you can try different venues at the boat outings, these are most enjoyable so why not give your name to Alex Watson our competition seceretaty for Menteith, Frandy or Harelaw
