Public access

The Club offers day or weekly permits to visitors to the area who have the choice to fish either for brown trout in the reservoirs or for migratory fish in the burns when conditions permit. All this on the same permit!

For the 2023 season a day ticket will cost £15 which will cover any of the reservoirs or the burns or if you wish you can fish all week for £40. The daily limit is 2 fish on Muirhead reservior and one only on Crosbie whether they are brown or rainbow trout, after which you can catch and release provided you debarb your flies.

It is mandatory that all migratory fish are returned to the water unharmed.

Permits may be obtained from  "Moorings Knitwear and Rainwear", Main St, Largs.   "R.T.Cycles", Glengarnock and "Rods N Reels", Johnstone

Fishing the waters

The fishing season for Brown trout is from 15th March to 6th October.

Fly fishing is the only method allowed on Muirhead and Crosbie reservoirs whereas any legal method may be used in the burns and Outerwards reservoir.

Bank fishing is the main method although we have three boats which are available for use by members at Muirhead reservoir

Club membership also allows fishing from the shore for sea trout.

The catch limit on all reservoirs is 2 fish per day, Crosbie reservoir is 1 fish per day after which catch and release is allowed provided flies are debarbed. However we do encourage all members to preserve stocks by returning as many fish as possible.

The Club now runs a winter fishing group for existing members. For a small additional fee these members may fish for rainbow trout throughout the winter mainly on a catch and release basis at Crosbie reservoir only.
